Like many people, I took lockdown as an opportunity to try and get abs. While I never fulfilled my ab destiny, I did watch hours of fitness videos in an attempt to inspire me into working out, with varying degrees of success. The videos that I have therefore chosen are incredibly biased, but I found that my lack of stamina meant that the shorter the video was, the better, and workouts with music made me more motivated. So without further ado, here’s my top 10 videos to help the unfit get fit quick.

  1. 10 Minutes: Donkey Kick WORKOUT for Butt & Hips!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBFUJEGAN94

Do I know what a donkey kick is? No. Am I sure I am doing it correctly? No. Did I trick myself into thinking my arse looked bigger the next day after doing this? Yes. Short yet effective, this is a great workout from Marcie for those looking to work on their glutes.

  1. Total Body Tone Up!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dOjJpPjfkw

From the fitness empire Tone It Up, this is the only video that requires any equipment, but the small weights used can easily be taken away or replaced with water bottles.

  1. The Best Body Slimming Workout | POP Pilates Top Hits

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE4j3KR5m54

I really enjoy workouts that have been timed to music, and Blogilates has a whole series called Pop Pilates where she does just that. This workout is full body, which is really helpful when so many videos are focused on the abs or glutes and made me realise just how weak my arms actually are.

  1. The Leaner 🦵 Legs, Smaller Waist Workout with Tiffany Rothe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeetdpYpYIM

Tiffany Rothe is so energetic that I can face doing a 41 minute video with her. She livestreams her classes so you really feel like you’re working out with her and keeps the videos fun at all times. She has a whole host of workouts on her channel suitable for all different levels of fitness, so she’s definitely a good option if you miss your gym classes.

  1. Flat Stomach Workout (7 minutes)

My dad and I optimistically started lockdown doing two Holly Dolke videos a day. Since pubs have reopened my dad has veered off the path of his fitness journey but I still do Holly’s videos from time to time. Her channel has a lot of low impact and ab workouts, and this one is a personal favourite purely because it is so short. Do this before bed or in the morning and maybe (probably not) you’ll have abs like Holly too.

  1. Get Abs in 2 WEEKS | Abs Workout Challenge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pLT-olgUJs

A list of home workout videos would not be complete if I didn’t mention Chloe Ting. Famous for her challenges, Chloe isn’t afraid of planks so watch out for your wrists if you do all her videos back to back!

  1. 15 MIN 90’s DANCE PARTY WORKOUT – Full Body/No Equipment

Madfit is a personal favourite of mine because she always looks so happy when doing the workouts. I really enjoy her dance workouts, partly because she bangs on a bit of Vengaboys which was the soundtrack to my childhood. 10/10 for music taste.

  1. 10 Minute Morning Yoga Stretch for Beginners – Energy Boost Yoga

For those looking to gain flexibility or some tranquillity, this is the first of 2 yoga videos. Again due to my short attention span I really enjoy this – because it is short – but Kassandra has a variety of yoga classes on her channel if you want something a little bit longer.

  1. Full Body Flow | 20 Min. Yoga Practice | Yoga With Adriene

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1H3xO3x_Js

The second yoga channel I’m recommending is Yoga With Adriene. Adriene again has a variety of different classes, but she also is known for her yoga challenges which are great if you want some motivation to start getting into the practice.

  1. Lizzo – Good As Hell (feat. Ariana Grande) | Caleb Marshall | Dance Workout

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxbN_r3Xx-w

I have to admit, I am not coordinated enough to enjoy doing the Fitness Marshall videos. However, my mum loves him so that’s why I’ve included him. Great for those who are missing their Zumba classes or for those who like following dance routines, Caleb Marshall uses music which is currently in the charts to give you a 3 minute fun workout.
